Comment by Janet Mundy on November 25, 2011 at 7:55 Hi everyone - I've probably left this a bit late (it's been a busy week!) but remember specialists will be on hand this morning to advise about tax credits, benefits etc. See you shortly!
Comment by Janet Mundy on November 21, 2011 at 11:04 Money Week is here! Just a wee reminder that we'll be bringing specialists to the Coffee Morning this Friday to offer advice on tax credits and other benefits available to small business owners. Any benefit check will be based on net profit for self employed people so please bring evidence as follows: To calculate net profit for an existing business: 1) take full gross receipts for business - all money received in respect of and generated by the business over a specific period (usually 1 year) 2) work out net profit by deducting any expenses wholly and exclusively paid out during that period for the purposes of that employment. Sum left after deductions is net profit 3) From net profit, deduct income tax, Class 2 and Class 4 national insurance contributions and half of any contribution to a personal pension scheme For business owners who have not been in business long enough to have last year's accounts, we can use projected profit for the year - this is how most benefit agencies will work for someone's first year of business.

Comment by Stephen Mears - Mear Technology on October 7, 2011 at 17:05 Hi All,
I am sorry that I have not been along for a while but I thought that you may be interested to know that my son-in-law was awarded a military cross, last week for bravery in Afghistan and, like all other recipients of awards, he does not know why he was picked out, when there is so much bravery being shown by so many of our men and women.
Apart from having parents-in-law in West Lothian, his only connection is that he got his Jack Russell, which he adores, in Broxburn, Roxy from Broxy.
